Ever wonder what it takes to be uniquely and passionately yourself in a world determined to make you like everyone else?
Grace Martin intends to find out as she stumbles from one life lesson to another. With a peculiar but supportive guide and mentor named Mrs. Pettermint, Grace slowly breaks free of traditional family and religion, and courageously explores life, relationships and various spiritual traditions seeking the answers to life’s big questions. Finally, just when she feels she is close to having it all figured out, her beloved mentor dies leaving her nearly $60 Million Dollars. However the only way to claim that inheritance and find the peace she longs for is for Grace to face the critics of her past, the betrayals of the present, and her doubts for the future.
Finding Grace shows that in today’s world it is possible to be spiritual without being religious. And for many women, the path to grace is often being willing to celebrate ourselves exactly as we already are.

I have only the Kindle on PC and have had trouble reading books on the PC as the screen bothers my eyes, but this book I finished in one reading, I couldn't close the book until I reached the last page. Even then I wished it hadn't ended.I wasn't too sure what I would think of this book as I was raised Roman Catholic and left as a teen, so when the book began with questions about God, a Pentecostal grandmother, and a depressed single mother well I worried the book would be preachy. Was I in for a surprise!
This book is so much more than questioning one's belief in religion or God. Once I started the book I found time slip away until 3 hours later I had read the entire novel. Without giving too much away I'd like to share some of the subjects I found interesting and thought-provoking.
1. If we strike out on our own path how will this affect the family dynamics that previously existed?
2. Can a woman only be fulfilled if she has a child?
3. What relationship are we envisioning by having a child?
4. Should we consider the planet's current population before having a child with how the world looks today?
5. How a lack of self-confidence can affect our growth as a person. Will we sell ourselves short both in relationships and careers?
6. What about money? How do we view money and can it bring happiness?
This book is about love, loss, challenges, and finding the path you were meant to live. I would love to say more, but don't want to give away too much about the story. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how much you will enjoy this book once you start reading.

Finding GraceA Transformational Journey edition by Kathy Gottberg Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
I read this book cover to cover over a few days. I saw my self in many of the pages and appreciated the authors tender care oif such deep issues. Getting to know and reveal the God of your understanding is no easy task, she tells the story well.
Without spoiling the plot I read this in two sittings, had to see how it all turned out. This is one of those books where the characters will stay with you. I'd love a sequel to see what happens to Grace next and where spirit guides her.
Even days after reading Finding Grace A Transformational Journey, I find myself considering and comparing Grace's journey to my own, and the women who have guided me throughout my life. It is one thing to read and enjoy a book and put it back on the shelf but it is a wonderful thing to read a book and have it stick! Congratulations and thanks, Kathy, on a wonderful book.
I have been reading Kathy's blog for almost a year, but have only just gotten around to reading her novel, Finding Grace, and am so glad I did.
Her characters are relatable. I found myself empathizing with all of them, even the ones I didn't like very much. Mostly though, I'm so impressed that Kathy was able to take subject matter that I generally struggle with (anything religiously-oriented) and make it interesting, compelling and relatable. While I don't subscribe to the established/staid religions represented by some characters, nor do I subscribe to the newer-style religions followed (and taught) by other characters, I could appreciate what each meant to each camp.
The story follows one woman's path towards truth and grace, meaning and love. That's something I can get behind, regardless of the religious views that may have helped her get there.
Kathy Gottberg displays a unique gift for storytelling in this imaginative march through the life of solid but cautious, Grace Martin, a little girl being raised by a God fearing Fundamentalist grandmother. Luckily she develops a friendship with the mysterious, Mrs. Pettermint, who pilots Grace into trusting her own spiritual beliefs and thus begins a lifelong pursuit of recognizing negative thought processes when they pop up and transforming them into positive life lessons. Even the loss of her mentor, Mrs. Pettermint.
As you experience this novel, allow the excitement that Grace seizes in her journey through life to permeate your very being. And if your own spiritual philosophy differs, that's OK, too.
I thought I was getting a Christian book, however, it is not, as the author says near the end of the book. It is a book about making god into your own image. Those who were suppose to be Christians in this book were the most horrible people, and not only in the way they behaved, but even in their appearance. And the things they believed weren't really Christian, so I don't think the author knows what true Christianity is about. There is just enough truth mixed with lies in here to fool anyone who isn't grounded in the whole truth. I give this review so that others who are looking for Christian reading material won't be fooled into this one.
While I found the opening trial scenes a little confusing - I wasn't sure if I was supposed to root for the heroine, Grace, or whether she was an antihero, at first, I was quickly drawn in. (FWIW, there are references to sex and violence, but it's not graphic, and is not the focus of the book, so I checked off no on these questions.)
Grace begins her journey as a somewhat neglected child, emotionally adopted by a loving neighbor woman, with someone unconventional, if inspirational, views of the Divine that contrast sharply with those of her bitter grandmother. As she enters on her own journey to adulthood, and eventually, to becoming a minister of sorts, we are with Grace as she stumbles, questions, loses her way, and in the end, wins in ways that are most important. I don't think it's possible to read this book and end up depressed, and I expect that most readers will be thought-provoked for a long time after finishing it.
